The Emerald Tablets – A 38,000 Year Old Alchemist’s Guidebook Shrouded in Mystery.

Emerald Tablet
Even a little bit of research into the mysterious text we call the “Emerald Tablets” will quickly leave you baffled. While the translations reveal ancient secrets once known only by Hermetic Magicians, Alchemists and other Initiates, the origins of this work are not so clear at all.

Conflicting information, confusing speculation and heated opinion surround the Emerald Tablets text. In fact, depending on what you read or who you trust, this body of work is a mere 1,200 years old … or a whopping 38,000!

The Tablets have been described as rectangular green slabs or plaques with exquisite, bas-relief lettering. A lettering which appears similar to the ancient Phoenician script. And while the many translations over the centuries all source their origin from these carved emerald stones, the “original” objects are nowhere to be found … at least not to this day.

If there is a set of emerald stones carved with alchemical secrets, where might they be? Some say they’re buried within a vault somewhere on the Giza plateau. Other say they’re within the equally mysterious (and hidden) Ark of the Covenant.

From Base Metal To Gold – The Transmutation of Consciousness

To explain it in the most basic terms, the text of the Emerald Tablets is a summary of the principles of alchemy. It is where the “Secrets of the Philosopher’s Stone” is described.

And those secrets are all about transmutation

Transmutation, from an alchemist’s point of view, is about turning “base metal” into “gold.” How these two “prima materia” (first matter) are actually defined, however, is up to the reader …

While some argue that the alchemist’s power comes from a formula which literally turns one physical substance into another (base metal to gold), modern day mystics sometimes argue that this is the language of symbolism. “Base metal”, in the language of the mystics, refers to base human consciousness, while “gold” refers to the transmutation of the ordinary human into a conscious creator or enlightened being.

Pyramid Chamber or Sri Lankan Cave? The Mysterious Origins of the Emerald Tablets

Occult history buffs and students tend to agree that the Tablets were originally uncovered around 1350 bce, in a hidden chamber under the Egyptian pyramid of Cheops. But this is not the only tale of their discovery.

Another legend tells a tale of Hermes, (not the Roman messenger god of Quicksilver, but a 5th century philosopher) who happened to be traveling in Ceylon (modern-day Sri Lanka). He discovered the Emerald Tablets, so the story goes, hidden in a cave.

After studying them, Hermes learned the secret of traveling in “both heaven and earth.” The legend goes on to say that he spent the remainder of his life traveling across Asia and the Middle East serving as both healer and teacher.

(Interestingly enough, the sacred Hindu text called Mahanirvanatantra claims the Buddha was the very same person of Hermes. As it turns out, both are referred to as the “Son of the Moon” in several other Hindu texts.)

Atlantis, Noah’s Ark and the Ark of the Covenant

Another mystery surrounding the Tablets is its author. Some say it was written by an Atlantean Priest-King named Thoth (in an incarnation as Hermes Trismegistus) back around 36,000 bce. Others argue it was one of Adam’s sons, (of Adam & Eve fame), who is to be credited. Still others say it was an Arab named Balinas between the 6th and 8th centuries of our current era, who first wrote down the secrets of the alchemists.

What we do know is this: the self-named author within the translated texts is one “Hermes Trismegistus.” But the first appearance of the text that we know of was written in Arabic by Balinas, some time between 500-799 ce. Balinas claims to have uncovered the text within a vault found beneath a statue of Hermes in central Turkey. He also writes that within the vault he found an old man sitting atop a gold throne. This old man held the tablets in his arms.

Some Jewish mystics, on the other hand, say that Seth (Adam’s son), is the real author. In the “Seth Origins camp” the Emerald Tablets were later in Noah’s hands, who took them aboard his ark. Following those 40 days and nights, Noah supposedly then hid the Emerald Tablets deep within a cave, somewhere near Hebron. Later, so this story goes, they were discovered by Abraham’s wife, Sarah.

Yet another version of the Tablets’ origins tells of Hermes (another of Abraham’s sons) giving them to Moses’s daughter Miriam. Miriam then allegedly placed them in the Ark of the Covenant, where they’re said to remain even today.

“The First Time”

Despite the mystery surrounding the Tablets (and the origins of alchemy in general), among alchemists today and those in the past there is almost complete agreement: alchemy’s origins lay in the pre-pharaonic land of Egypt. It was a gift from the gods during the “First Time,” or Zep Tepi.
According to this legend, a group of gods or godlike beings arrived in Egypt. These beings shared with the people an advanced technology which enabled them to literally transform matter. It was during this time that Thoth was said to have crafted or brought the Emerald Tablets to humanity.
Exactly when was this “First Time”? … more than 12,000 years ago.
Source Book for Egyptian Mysteries and Western Religions?

One of the key “truths” revealed in the Emerald Tablets is the notion of “As Above, So Below”. If indeed, the origins of this message come from some long-lost tablets, that means all the wisdom of the ancient Egyptians is itself but a copy of something much older.

Could the Emerald Tablets be the source book for both the Egyptian Mystery Schools and all western religious traditions? We know that Judaism, Islam and Christianity all share certain principles which link back to Abrahamic traditions. But students of the Emerald Tablets argue that those Abraham-based precepts can all be sourced within the far older Hermetic principles revealed in the Emerald Tablets.

Certainly if the principles and mysteries outlined within the Emerald Tablets date back to the “First Time” it would be easy to see how they could have reached and influence the likes of Abraham, Moses and those early Hebrews. But like the rest of the Tablets’ mysteries, we can’t know for sure if their origins truly date back to such an ancient, pre-flood era.

In fact, we can’t even be certain there actually is a set of Emerald Tablets, despite their fame across the centuries …

Evidence of Actual Tablets?

However you choose to interpret the texts as they’ve been translated down through the ages, one thing with far less room for interpretation is the existence of the Tablets at all. Despite compelling arguments by sages, alchemists and mystics, we have yet to find (or re-find) the stones.

Were there indeed slabs of emerald carved with formulae for magic by an ancient King of a long lost world? If so, where did it go?

Freemasonry’s Famous Tablet Translators

Did translators such as Balinas, Sir Isaac Newton, Aleister Crowley or Albertus Magnus actually see these Tablets? If not, what reason would any of them have to invent a story of its existence at all?

Was this some clever ruse to shroud certain factions of society in mystery? To keep the bulk of humanity from asking too many questions for fear of powerful magician’s reprise?

Certainly Newton, Crowley and Magnus were all very likely to have been Freemasons, wielding great power in their time. Would whispered rumors of Egyptian magic used by these men as means to another end?

We may never know the answers to the mystery behind the Emerald Tablets’ origins, their true nature or even their existence at all. What we do know is that the information as it has come down to us reveals secrets which alchemists throughout the ages had long sought to keep hidden from the world. Information you and I may use to transform matter … or perhaps, even ourselves.

Forbidden Ancient Technology & A Cataclysmic War… In the Oldest Civilization on Earth?

This post-film smoking gun report reveals why the mysterious lost city of Dwarka may force us to rewrite history. Read on to uncover what we know, what didn’t make it into the documentary, and what happens next.

dwakadish temple

Buried beneath the waters of the Arabian Sea, the ruined fragments of an ancient city twice the size of Manhattan occasionally wash up onto the sandy shore of one of India’s most fascinating sites. Known as one of the four Dhamas, the small coastal city, still called Dwarka today, is a sacred place of pilgrimage in the Hindu religion. For hundreds, if not thousands of years, people from around India have traveled to Dwarka, and in particular to Dwarkadish Temple, to pay homage to deities and receive blessings, but few locals are even aware of the great mystery that lies just a few hundred meters off shore. As you saw in our documentary, Dwarka: Atlantis of the East, our founder Amish Shah journeyed to see this gem of cultural heritage and inadvertently began unraveling the clues behind this mystery.

Submerged Ruins

Just 200 meters from the sandy coast, large underwater structures have remained for thousands of years. In the 1980’s, Archaeologists launched a diving investigation to determine the extent of these ruins. It was India’s first attempt at underwater research and it carried on for nearly two decades. Just a few meters beneath the water they discovered clear evidence of ruins and a number of stone anchors scattered along the outside of this hidden city. It suggested that at some point several thousand years ago, this submerged city was an extraordinarily busy port, perhaps a port of commerce, that was heavily trafficked by sea. But with the limited technology of the late 20th Century, experts were unable to get a conclusive date for the city.

The true mystery was found in the fact that this city was several meters below sea level. The tools for thorough excavation simply did not exists at the time, so it wouldn’t be until 1997, with the help of another research team, that Archaeologists would be able to uncover more clues about the mysterious ruins beneath the water.

The mainstream view currently dates the site between the 8th and 15th Century AD, but this is acknowledged as being based on surrounding archaeological sites. In other words, researchers have estimated this date based solely on the dating of structures above ground near the modern city of Dwarka.

Rich History

Krishna Flying Chariot

In the documentary, Amish reveals that Dwarka was referenced in the Mahabharata and it was described as the site of a massive battle between the legendary figure of Krishna and one of his greatest enemies. The epic poem tells of flying chariots and explosive blasts that could kill millions of people in days.

The city of Dwarka was said to have been built as Krishna’s fortress by the sea. But Archaeologists gathered forensic evidence in the form of artifacts around the dig site that only dated back to the 15th century. But here’s where the mystery gets interesting. The Mahabharata was written centuries, if not thousands of years before the 15th Century.

Peplexed, an astronomical expert by the name of Dr. Narahari Achar used specific references from the Mahabharata and advanced astronomy software, to posit that events in the epic may have actually taken place around 3067 BC. The authors were very precise referencing planetary alignments and movements that could only have taken place once in the last few thousand years.

The fantastic story of Dwarka in the Mahabharata ends with the city being destroyed by an incredible blast and the stories are riddled with references to ancient technology; however, to date there has been no conclusive evidence found. But what if scientists were overlooking something that could appear completely mundane and insignificant? What if further research could yield more clues that could establish a more accurate date for this submerged city?

Second Time’s a Charm

Between 1997 and 2001, the Marine Archaeology Centre of the National Institute
of Oceanography in Goa headed an investigation into the region off the coast of Dwarka. Using GPS technology, still and video photography, and compass readings, researchers were able to do a more thorough analysis of the site. The team was able to even airlift some obstructions to examine covered parts of the underwater city. After removing overgrowth and sediment layers that had settled, they were able to determine a few things about the site.

Based on the formation of a sand dune at the mouth of the Okhamadi River, it was determined that the nearby river was probably navigable at least 2,000 to 3,000 years ago. This would confirm suspicions that this entire area was a bustling port city in ancient times. The presence of over 34 massive anchors of various styles and stone types also suggest that it was a port for many years.

The port city is itself hardly a city, as research has found several large semicircular blocks and rectangular stones that don’t seem to have any recognizable structure patterns. It has been noted that some of these large stones appear to be part of the same large structure. Beyond that, several meters further below the water is where the over 34 anchors made mostly from igneous (volcanic) rock are also scattered in no particular pattern or order. For that reason the archaeological site has been divided into two sections. One part is where the large stone blocks are strewn across the sea floor and the other is where the large stone anchors can be found.

What Makes This Worth Investigating?

Scientists have identified three types of anchors that can be found at the site: grapnel, triangular, and four that have been classified as ring stone. Interestingly enough, there are no markings on these anchors which makes dating them nearly impossible. Researchers have based their conclusions on the rough sizes of anchors found throughout the Mediterranean, but it should be noted that a lot of these “comparison anchors” did in fact have markings that supplied further clues. Their best guess based on the inability to date rock places one of submerged sections somewhere between the 10th and 12th century AD.

But they did find something fascinating that gives a clue.

The exploration of the site that began in the early 1980’s and continued for over 20 years, was led by Indian Archaeologist, S.R. Rao. It was his research and incredible commitment to the project over the course of the research that helped bring attention to the ancient site. But what could be the smoking gun? In his own words, S.R. Rao said that the discovery of identification markers proved that this was the site mentioned in the Mahabharata. As he describes it, this is what they found:

“Besides plenty of pottery, we found an inscribed sherd (piece of pottery) with the following: maha kacha shahapa (sea, king or protector). This is dated around 1600 B.C. while the mudra is dated to 1700 B.C. We found a 580 metre long wall.”

– S.R. Rao

Sea Wall at Dwarka
In the Mahabharata, it is said that Krishna, the protector of mankind, asked his followers to wear an identification marker or mudra as a sign of their allegiance. Could these artifacts that Rao and his team uncovered and dated back to at least 1600 B.C. be the proof that an ancient advanced city truly existed?

Or could this old port city be no more than a couple hundred years old? At this point, based on the evidence found so far, either is possible. But, is that any reason to simply halt research and chalk it up to nothing special? Absolutely not!

The bottom line is that more research needs to be done. If you combine these fascinating clues with the detailed accounts described in the Mahabharata, there is more than enough reason to dig further, and at the very least find conclusive evidence that the city actually is no more than a couple thousand years old. What have we got to lose?

How Ancient Sacred Geometry Could Radically Alter Modern Science and Medicine

Pyramids 1 - Giza

Great Pyramid at Giza

It may sound crazy, but theories about the effects of pyramids on nature have been around for thousands of years. It wasn’t until 1930 that interest in the subjects resurfaced in the West, when French hardware-store owner and author Antoine Bovis developed the idea that small models of pyramids can preserve food. It is alleged that he used a divination technique known as dowsing to come up with the theory.

In 1949, inspired by Bovis, Karel Drbal, a Czech businessman created a pyramid shaped box dubbed the “Pharaoh’s Shaving Device” for keeping blades sharp. His patent claimed his device could focus “the earth’s magnetic field,” although he did not make it clear how or whether it was the shape or material that exerted the effect. The idea that pyramids could have such an apparently magical effect eventually caught on when authors Sheila Ostrander and Lynn Schroeder published “Psychic Discoveries Behind the Iron Curtain.” In it, they included a chapter about the theory based on a meeting they had with Drbal while traveling.

The Pyramid Experiments

Moscow Pyramid

Golod’s Pyramid in Moscow

In 1990 Russian researcher Alexander Golod picked up where the others left off, this time attempting to introduce the scientific method to the study of this pyramid power notion. He coordinated groups of scientists in Russia in order to carry out scientific studies within fiberglass Pyramids that were built by him.

The results have been pretty astounding. Though it has been cited that his research is corroborated by the Russian Academy of Sciences, they have never publicly published any data or papers to verify the claims. Regardless, some of the effects have been cited in books and on many sites on the web and several of the research team members, who are affiliated with these Russian scientific organizations have been named.

Here are some of the top results that Golod’s team have determined in experiments conducted in Moscow. All experiments were performed within large pyramids constructed by Golod and his team.

  • The Immune system of organisms increased upon exposure in the pyramid (Scientific Research Institute named by Mechnikov, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences)
  • Specific properties of medicines increase with decreasing side effects after exposure in the Pyramid (SRI of Virology named Ivanovskiy, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences)
  • Agricultural seeds placed in the pyramid showed a 30-100% increase in yield
  • Russian military grade radar machines detected an energy column above the Pyramids built by Alexander Golod which is thought to have repaired the Ozone layer in this area of Russia
  • The pathogenic strength of different viruses and bacteria becomes less with exposure in the pyramid
  • Radioactive materials decayed at a more rapid rate than expected.
  • Dangerous pathogenic viruses and bacteria became less harmful to living organisms in a pyramid. Even the psychotropic drug LSD showed less of an effect on an individual within close proximity and inside the pyramid.
  • Heavy metals including the toxic Strontium that polluted a city water well disappeared from the water supply when a municipal administrator ordered the raising of pyramids over the source. They soon were able to pump clean water.

One of the more startling findings in this independent research relates to the health of 20 premature newborns whose prognosis was inevitable death.

These newborns were fed less than an ounce of a 40% solution of glucose in distilled water which had been placed in the healing pyramid energy field for several days. All 20 of the premature babies, to the joy and elation of the parents and Russian scientists, lived.

Then Russian scientists tried the exact same experiment, this time using ordinary tap water stored in their pyramid and once again, with just a single milliliter (less than an ounce) of water it worked to save babies lives just as well.

Geometry: Ancient Tools for Enlightenment?

Masaru Emoto Water Experiment

Frozen Crystals of Exposed Water

Arguably one of the more interesting findings is that the properties of water seem to defy chemistry when exposed to time within the pyramidal structures. When researchers placed plastic bottles of regular distilled water inside of the pyramid, even at the freezing point temperature of -38 Degrees Celsius the water would not freeze. It seemed to remain in a form of liquid ice that defied the accepted laws of science. But when the water was shocked with a sudden movement like shaking the bottle or making an impact on the outside of the plastic container, the water would suddenly change to ice in a wave of freezing.

The work of Japanese Scientist Masaru Emoto seems to corroborate the idea that the properties of water can be altered by frequency. His groundbreaking work has deomonstrated the fractal nature of water when it is exposed to harmonious and positive words and intentions. The more positive the energy directed at water, a clear and symmetrical fractal pattern emerges.

On the other hand when words like hate, anger or destructive phrases are directed to water, the less symmetrical and more warped and damaged the water particles appear to be.

All of these unlikely connections beg the question, what exactly is it about a shape that can so clearly affect matter in such a way? How can something so intangible cause biological and non-biological objects alike to defy the widely accepted rules of chemistry, physics, and biology? Could there be other shapes that affect our world in similar ways?

Ancient Buddhist and Hindu traditions have held mandalas in high esteem as tools for enlightenment and still today use them to assist in reaching higher states of consciousness. Mandalas, like the Sri Yantra (below), are ritual symbols bearing a square with four gates and containing a circle with a center point. They have been used for thousands of years to represent the Universe. More recently a mandala has come to mean any geometric pattern or shape that is used to represent the microcosm of the universe

Sri Yantra

Sri Yantra

Meditation has played a key role in the use of these geometric patterns, and the applications have been similar to the use of mantras, which are sacred words or phrases said to have psychological and spiritual powers. Both are still used to create sacred space and to induce meditation or trance-like states that are said to help one connect with the universe.

But could this ancient practice mean that the ancients understood something about the universe that modern science has only recently begun to understand?

Holographic Universe: The Cutting Edge of Geometry and Science

More recently Quantum physicists have revealed the idea that we exist in a holographic universe. But what does this mean exactly?

Simply put, the properties of our universe – every galaxy every star and every planet – is likely contained within every single particle within it, like a hologram. Author Michael Talbot has written extensively on the subject,

“In 1982 a remarkable event took place. At the University of Paris a research team led by physicist Alain Aspect performed what may turn out to be one of the most important experiments of the 20th century.

Aspect and his team discovered that under certain circumstances subatomic particles such as electrons are able to instantaneously communicate with each other regardless of the distance separating them. It doesn’t matter whether they are 10 feet or 10 billion miles apart.

Somehow each particle always seems to know what the other is doing. The problem with this feat is that it violates Einstein’s long-held tenet that no communication can travel faster than the speed of light. Since traveling faster than the speed of light is tantamount to breaking the time barrier, this daunting prospect has caused some physicists to try to come up with elaborate ways to explain away Aspect’s findings. But it has inspired others to offer even more radical explanations.

University of London physicist David Bohm, for example, believes Aspect’s findings imply that objective reality does not exist, that despite its apparent solidity the universe is at heart a phantasm, a gigantic and splendidly detailed hologram.

The three-dimensionality of such images is not the only remarkable characteristic of holograms. If a hologram of a rose is cut in half and then illuminated by a laser, each half will still be found to contain the entire image of the rose.

Indeed, even if the halves are divided again, each snippet of film will always be found to contain a smaller but intact version of the original image. Unlike normal photographs, every part of a hologram contains all the information possessed by the whole.”

Michael Talbot, The Holographic Universe: Does Objective Reality Exist? (March 2012)

Modern Application

Much like fractals, the idea that the universe consists of an infinite pattern of energy seems to align with this geometric view of our world.

So how does this view of our universe affect the future of science? For starters, it might be wise to conduct more peer-reviewed research on the effects of geometric shapes on the human body. Ancient practices like meditation and the use of mandalas have already been proven to increase mental clarity and decrease a tendency for violence. If structures like Pyramids can help induce faster healing mechanisms and increase the decay rate of radioactive matter, surely we could apply these findings to modern architecture and begin developing a new approach to solving many of the problems that plague the modern world.
